At open water swims around the world, there are all kinds of entertainment. From samba dancers in Japan and free car give-aways in South Africa to face-painting for children and magicians for adults, there are all kinds of fun to be had before and after open water swimming competitions.
At the Traversée Internationale du Lac Memphrémagog, a professional and amateur swimming extravaganza in Quebec, Canada, there is a huge festival that runs all week-long with characters that range from Ronald McDonald to really tall, extraordinarily friendly hostesses.
