Spread the love

The Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe – Coronda is a 57 km (35 miles) race where professional marathon swimmers race down the Coronda River in Argentina. Part of a year-round global series of professional marathon swims organized by FINA, the race brings together swimmers from around the world.

How much do these professional swimmers get for swimming 8, 9, 10 or more hours?

US$1,500 goes to the winner.

US$850 for second, US$600 for third, US$400 for fourth, US$300 for fifth, US$250 for sixth, US$200 for seventh, US$150 for eigth, $100 for ninth and $50 for tenth. It is not much, especially when the athletes are spending hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of dollars to travel to South America. But they are driven by a passion that runs deeper than an expectation of financial wealth.
