Expedition swimming is a type of open water swimming usually done together with teammates or swim buddies as part of an informal group simply exploring a new waterway or venue or a more formally organized guided swim on a holiday tour.

The expedition swim can be done with or without escorts, either motorized or on kayaks. It is a form of wild swimming or free swimming done at a comfortable pace and just plain fun.
