Noelia Petti To Challenge Crossing The Rio De La Plata

Spread the love

Professional marathon swimmer Noelia Petti of Argentina will look to swim between the coasts of Uruguay and Argentina in the Río de la Plata.

Back in 1923, nearly 91 years ago, Argentina Lilian Harrison completed this feat – 42 km (26 miles) across the River Plate from Uruguay to Argentina in 1923 at the age of 20. Petti will swim from shore to shore across the widest river in the world as a charity swim. She will raise money and awareness for the Casa del Niño Emaús Burzaco (Children’s Home Emaús Burzaco).

She estimates the swim will take her 13 hours from the city of Colonia in Uruguay to the Punta Lara, Ensenada in Argentina. She will be escorted by 3 pilots, her coach and husband Nacho Grignaschi (shown above with Petti), a lifeguard, and a doctor.
