The boys of Guadeloupe showed the ocean swimming prowess and potential at Sabana Basora in Aruba for the second year in a row at the XXIX CARIFTA Swimming Championships. They placed 3 of the top 6 in the 13-14 age group and 3 of the top 7 in the 15-17 age group at the open water swimming race at the annual Caribbean age group swimming championships.
A 5 km ocean swim for boys and girls ages 13-14 and 15-17 was added at the CARIFTA Championships where the best juniors of Caribbean Swimming against each other in the 11-12, 13-14, and 15-17 age groups. It was a qualifying event for both the Youth Olympic Games and the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships.
14-year-old Karl Fabry of Guadeloupe (1:07:51) joined teammate 17-year-old Anthony Rechal (1:07:12, shown on left above) at the top of the podium as they both won their respective age groups.
Guadeloupe is a group of beautiful Caribbean islands located in the Leeward Islands, in the Lesser Antilles as part of France.
