“For me, [the crossing] was to achieve a dream since I am an amateur, someone who simply loves the sea and swimming in all its aspects. I am extremely pleased to now be part of history that channel,” said 46-year-old Letícia Toste from Terceira who became the first woman to make this crossing in 3 hours 43 minutes. “Para mim foi um conquistar de um sonho uma vez que sou uma amadora, alguém que simplesmente adora o mar e a natação em todas as suas vertentes. Estou extremamente satisfeita por agora fazer parte da história desse canal.”
