Campeonato Sudamericano De Aguas Abiertas 2014

The 2014 South American Swimming Championships (VIII Campeonato Sudamericano De Aguas Abiertas) are being held in Mar del Plata, Argentina this week (pool swimming, water polo, diving, synchronized swimming), but the open water events will be conducted at the October 26th (5 km) and 28th (10 km).

The South American Swimming Championships are a biennial aquatics championships for countries from CONSANAT or Confederación Sudamericana de Natación (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela).

With athletes like Poliana Okimoto [shown above after winning the 2007 Pan American Games], Ana Marcela Cunha, the Pinto sisters (Yanel Pinto and Andreina Pinto), Lizeth Rueda Santos, and Cecilia Biagioli, Betina Lorscheitter and Zaira Cardenas, among all the up-and-coming newcomers, there are going to be some especially fast and exciting races on the women’s side.
