430-pound (200 kg) Kelly Gneiting was seeking overseas channel swims during the summer of 2015, but then he turned his sights to domestic challenges closer to home.

My goal is to make it [35.4 km or 22 miles] across Navajo Lake [from its southern shores in the state of New Mexico to its northern side in the state of Colorado],” says the Idaho-based Gneiting who spoke about his previous sidestroking 14-mile Bear Lake double-crossing success. “When I come out here and succeed in swimming something like this, hopefully this will help change what people think about big people.”

His GoFundMe page is located here.
