Open water swimming events are often the epitome of friendly and respective intergenerational and gender competition among men and women of all ages and abilities.

It is great to see a young teenage girl swim her heart out to beat an older man. Or an older man try to keep up with a younger foe. Or an elderly women staying up with men and women the same age as her children.

All in good fun and healthful living.
