A 17-member Ocean Navi relay team took a bit longer than planned, but they finally struggled to swim across the 43 km course in the Sado Channel on the western coast of Japan.

It took us 16 hours 18 minutes against an increasingly strong wind and unexpectedly strong currents,” reported Masayuki Moriya. “The team included Motoko Honma, Hidehiko Kato, Kaori Fukusima, Noriko Kawasaki, Ayako Kawasaki, Yoshimitsu Kitazawa, Noriko Kimura, Jun Kuwabara, Kumiko Koizumi, Maki Sakamoto, Akira Shima, Etsuko Shima, Akiko Niide, Isami Mitsuhashi, Kyoko Morikawa, and Eriko Yoshino.”
