Drafting in a pool workout means usually takes the form of leaving only a few seconds behind the swimmer in front of you or catching up to the swimmer ahead of you during a set.

But drafting in the open water can take on an entirely different paradigm.

Open water swimmers can swim next to (or above or below) dolphins, turtles…geese, birds, seal lions, schools of fish…or ducks.
