FINA is now getting into open water swimming at the grassroots level.

Under the leadership of Colin Hill, each event on the FINA/Hosa 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup circuit must hold an amateur open water race that is held prior to the World Cup professional race. FINA’s goal is to sanction and support these races in order to encourage and increase grassroots participation in open water swimming.

The video above is from the 2 km mass participation swim in Balatonfured, Hungary after the Lake Balaton race.
