Cameron Bellamy nearly halfway on his second attempt of the Tsugaru Channel. 14 km from Cape Kodomari, he is swimming in sloshy conditions and 16℃ water with a 3m eastern wind at a 1:44 per 100m pace.
In October 2017, the South African attempted a crossing of the Tsugaru Channel in a tandem swim with Steve Walker. But was thwarted by the cold conditions in the latest Tsugaru Channel attempt in history.
So he waited and trained. Today, he may become the 11th person in history to achieve the Oceans Seven* after Stephen Redmond (Ireland), Anna-Carin Nordin (Sweden), Michelle Macy (USA), Darren Miller (USA), Adam Walker (UK), Kimberley Chambers (New Zealand), Antonio Argüelles (Mexico), Ion Lazarenco Tiron (Moldavia/Ireland), Rohan Dattatrey More, and Abhejali Bernardová (Czech Republic).
