The Toronto Island Lake Swim is a multi-distance open water swimming competition in Toronto, Canada. It has events of 750m, 1.5 km and 3.8 km in distance and is part of the Canadian Open Water Swim Series and the Canaqua Sports Open Water Swim Series.

Our goal is to have a great swim in the lake and raise awareness for how important it is to keep our fresh water lakes clean. We have partnered again with Waterkeepers who’s mandate is to have a swimmable, fishable, drinkable Lake Ontario! I bet you didn’t all know our drinking water in Toronto comes from Lake Ontario.
Here are some key dates and information:
Where: We are back at the Centre Island Pier on the south side of Toronto Island. Look at the map below.
When: Sunday, August 28th, 2016 at 11:00 am SHARP. For more information on race times check out our schedule.
Distance: a 750m, 1.5km or 3.8k open water swim. Three great races.
Fees: $60 per swimmer. Your fee includes a bathing cap, medal and shammy. Payable by credit card on our website (Visa, MasterCard, Amex)
Music: Back by popular demand will be a Reggae band. Keith Buddle will be playing 70’s Jamaican Reggae on the beach with his six piece band.
Awards: The Top swimmer in each category will get a trophy. This year we will be giving out the awards right after each swim. Each swimmer that completes the swim will also get a medal. No waiting around until the end of the day!
Swim course: The course is a loop swim starting at Centre Island Pier, and following the boardwalk, and back. The course will be well-marked.
Volunteers: Yes we are looking for volunteers! Email us and our Volunteer coordinator will contact you. Big thanks!
Wetsuit Rentals: The water temperature in Lake Ontario is inconsistent and can range between 12-22C. If you want to rent a wetsuit you can at the following places: Enduro Sport or Running Free
Toronto Island Map: Once you get on the Ferry at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal you will arrive at the Centre Island Ferry Port. This map will help you get to the Centre Island Pier. We will have volunteers at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and the Centre Island Ferry Port to assist you in finding the registration. You can now buy ferry tickets online!
