The USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships will comply with the new FINA rule regarding swimsuits for open water swimming competitions. This new rule begins June 1, 2010, for both men and women and is as follows:
Swimsuits shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below the ankle. All open water swimsuits shall comply with the FINA Criteria for Materials and Approval Procedures.
The new Open Water Pursuit races that follow the USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Championships will also follow this same rule in determining what swimsuits are legal for the non-wetsuit category.
