Swimmers To Survey Their Sexual Wellness

Dr. Thomas Gaither, a researcher at the University of California San Francisco Department of Urology, and Dr. Benjamin Breyer, a professor in the Department of Urology and Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Chief of Urology at the University of California, San Francisco, are conducting research in men and women’s sexual wellness and urologic conditions.

The impact of different forms of exercise on sexual wellness is not well understood and deserves more study,” explains Dr. Gaither. “We hope swimmers can help us assess exercise types and the frequency that comes along with different urologic conditions. The 10-minute survey [see link here] is completely anonymous and all data is kept securely.

We hope to uncover new connections between exercise and men and women’s health, aid patients, and better inform the public about ways to improve their health.

Five randomly selected participants will receive a US$100 Amazon Gift Card after completing the survey.

Our study is mainly to explore the effect of cycling on sexual and urinary health since cycling puts a lot of pressure on the perineum area. For these kind of studies, it is better to have a control group to compare our results with. In this case, we chose swimmers since they have a healthy lifestyle that is somewhat comparable to cyclists.”
