In most open water swimming events around the world, turns are indicated by turn buoys. But, at the Bermuda Round the Sound Swim, the swimmers are directed around the course in Hamilton Sound with directional arrows.
The Bermuda Round the Sound Swim originated 18 years ago by Bermuda open water swimmer Reeve Trott who worked on the idea with his coach Duncan Newby. The dream has become a charity fundraising event and since that time more than US$300,000 has been raised by the swimmers and organizers for various local charities.
