Peter Davis has dedicated his life as a American ocean lifeguard. Since 1983, he has served as a salaried and volunteer lifesaver from his local Galveston Island Beach Patrol to beaches throughout Central and South America.
As the current president of the United States Lifesaving Association, he received the 2019 Paragon Award for Aquatic Safety from the International Swimming Hall of Fame. He has served as the Secretary General of the Americas Region of the International Life Saving Federation since 2008 and helped develop national lifesaving organizations throughout the Americas.
His work in educating the public about rip currents and ocean safety together with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was acknowledged.
