Mark Johnston of the Flathead Lake Open Water Swimmers in Montana is working together with Simon Griffiths, the founder and publisher of Outdoor Swimmer Magazine to increase the North American content and number of event listings.

He explains, “Outdoor Swimmer is on a mission to help people live more adventurous, healthier and happier lives through swimming outdoors. The UK-based magazine has a global outlook and covers swimming events and challenges around the world as well as publishing training advice, inspirational swimming stories, news and event listings.

Simon announced the price for an annual print subscription with 12 issues to North America from £90 to £84 (about US$116 to US$108) and confirmed its commitment to expanding coverage of open water swimming on the continent.

The magazine was previously known as H2Open and rebranded in April 2017 while it increased its publication frequency. Under the editorial direction of Jonathan Cowie, the magazine covers all aspects of swimming outside from wild winter swimming, long distance adventures, swimming holidays and racing.

For example, in the current November issue, Elaine Howley writes about the history of open water swimming in Canada while US-based Gavin Maitland shares his moving story of how open water swimming helps him live a fulfilling and active life following a double lung transplant.”

Griffiths says, “Outdoor Swimming is booming and we’re really proud to be part of a movement that’s good for people in so many ways. It’s fun, it keeps you fit, it’s good for your mental health and it inspires people to treat the environment with respect. It also connects people around the world. We know we already have committed subscribers around the world and we’d really love to reach out to more readers in North America.”

Swimmers who would like to receive a free copy of Outdoor Swimmer can fill in the form here.

Simon adds, “Outdoor Swimmer would also be very happy to hear from event organizers in North America [info@outdoorswimmer.com] at so that their events can be added to Outdoor Swimmer’s listings, and also from potential contributors for event reviews and other content relevant to North American swimmers.”
