Eight marathon swimmers are attempting to live up to David Barra’s mantra, “Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.”

Swimmers between the ages of 28 and 54 are attempting to complete the 7-day, 7-stage 8 Bridges Hudson River Swim from June 19th through June 26th.

Race visionary David Barra explains, “The swim will string together the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, Mid-Hudson Bridge; Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, Bear Mountain Bridge, Tappan Zee Bridge, George Washington Bridge, and finally, the spectacular Verrazano Narrows Bridge, covering 120 miles of rolling river.”

The following swimmers plan to swim from bridge to bridge, overing distances ranging from 13.2 miles to 19.8 miles over the seven days:

1 Janice Burton, 54 years
2 Devon Clifford, 28
3 Patrick McDermot, 53
4 Steven Minaglia, 45
5 Greg O’ Connor, 50
6 Katrin Walter, 40
7 Joe Zemaitis, 38
8 John Zemaitis, 35
