Hassan Baraka from Morocco has already swum from Europe to Africa across the Strait of Gibraltar. He plans to swim between 5 separate continents, becoming the first Moroccan and Arab swimmer to do so.
After swimming from Europe to Africa through the Strait of Gibraltar in 4 hours 7 minutes in 2013 and between Asia and Europe in the Bosphorus in 57 minutes, he plans to swim across the remaining continents.
He is currently working out in order to cross the Bering Strait from America to Asia in August 2014, between Oceania to Asia (Papua New Guinea to Indonesia) in September 2014, and from Africa to Asia (Egypt to Saudi Arabia) in October 2014.
“This expedition is under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa of Morocco, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection,” explains Baraka. “The protection of the environment is one of my objectives that I have. This project is also supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Sport of Morocco and of Mrs Nawal El Moutawakel who is a Vice President of the IOC. I am traveling for a week to Alaska for the third crossing.“
