Victorious In Varna

Bulgaria’s Black Sea city of Varna has hosted the 4.5 km Varna-Galata Swimming Marathon (Плувен маратон Галата-Варна) for the 78th time.

Cash prizes of 1,000BGN (US$591) are given to the top finishers that included Ventseslav Aidarski last year who won in 52 minutes 55 seconds, a record time. Gabriela Georgieva set the women’s record of 54 minutes 32 seconds.

This year, International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame inductee Vojislav Mijić of Serbia will also participate in his 7th edition [shown on left].
