The Ups And Downs, Tall And Short Of Open Water

While Great Britain, Germany and Russia have been enjoying all kinds of success at the world-class level in open water swimming with world champions and Olympic medals, the fortunes and futures of Italy and America are on the rise.

With both countries placing their athletes on the podium – and a number of other fast young Italians and Americans waiting in the wings for their chance at glory – it is going to be an interesting two-year run-up to the 2012 London Olympics where the elite athletes from these leading open water swimming countries will be peaking and clashing on the Olympic 10K course.
