The Legacy Of Brian Curtis In The Open Water

Over 600 swimmers are expected on February 12th at the annual Cadiz Brian Curtis Mile at the picturesque Eikenhof dam near Grabouw in South Africa.

The event started in 1999 in memory of Brian Curtis, one of the founding directors of Cadiz Holdings Limited and a keen swimmer who died tragically in a motorcycle accident in 1998. Funds raised at the charity swim will be directed to the Open Water Swimming Development Trust which supports disadvantaged swimmers.

The 200m, 1 mile and 3K multi-race event is part of the Cadiz Swim Series, a host of swims in and around the Western Cape which raise funds for good causes. Ram Barkai urged open water swimmers to attend in their numbers to help raise funds for those less fortunate, “It’s a great day out for swimmers and their families, all in support of an extremely worthy cause.”
