Marwan Shédid is an open water swimmer from Egypt who once blazed the English Channel in 1976 in 9 hours 17 minutes [photo above is circa 1976).
He also completed the 32 km Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean in Roberval, Quebec, Canada, competed five times in the 24 Heures La Tuque marathon relay, and finished the 35 km Maratona del Golfo Capri-Napoli 11 times between 1969-1980.
Never one to complain, he proudly never retired from a marathon swim.
After his career, Marwan settled in Canada as an artist and painter who owns a gallery in Trois-Rivières, Québec, called Galerie d’Art Marwan, the largest art gallery between Québec and Montréal.
