“The Baths at Newport, 1858″ was published in Harper’s Weekly, featuring a wood engraving by Winslow Homer (1836–1910).
In 1857, Homer began his 18-year career working as an illustrator for Harper’s Weekly, which launched in New York in the same year.
The publication was an illustrated weekly where Homer became renowned for creating valuable insights and recollections of American lifestyles of his era.
The clothing worn by ocean goers is just one vast difference with ocean goers of contemporary times.
