Swimming Competitively In The Pool And Open Water

New pro Chloe Sutton is leading in the overall point total in the eight-meet USA Swimming Grand Prix circuit with 31 points over Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni and other American Olympic medalists and world-record holders.

Chloe is also the leading female vote-getter in the SwimNetwork poll of Olympic stars (vote here). She will also soon be heading with dozens of other pro open water swimmers to Santos, Brazil for the first stop on the FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup circuit on January 31st.

Like her rival Keri-Anne Payne of Great Britain, Chloe sees herself not as a pool swimmer or an open water swimmer – but as a competitive swimmer pure and simple whether the venue is a 50-meter rectangular indoor pool, a cold lake or rough ocean.

This mentality, so true in the pre-1910 era, is refreshing to see being revived by the current generation top open water swimmers.
