Rule Change In The FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix

The FINA Bureau made an important change to the rules and regulations of the FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix. The change was made to Point 11.2 Overall Prizes.

The change does not require the athletes to finish a minimum of four races in the annual circuit, but merely to compete in them. The wording may be a subtle alteration in language, but it is a vital and most-welcomed change for the athletes.

The new rule is as follows:

11.2 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix – Overall Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the first eight placed men and women. The swimmers are eligible for prize money, based on overall points achieved, providing that they have competed in a minimum of four (4) races including the final event of the season.
