Rahul Chiplunkar, founder of the Open Water Amateur Aquatics Federation (OWAAF, @owsaindia), reported on the Goa Sea Pride 2026 – National Sea Swimming Championship.
The races included 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km course with 489 competitors, ranging from 7 to 72 years old.
Chiplunkar says, “What started as a vision is now transforming into a movement. As we now move toward our next phase of growth, we want to encourage international open water enthusiasts, expedition swimmers, and adventure athletes to participate in future Indian sea swimming expeditions and events. India possesses one of the most diverse and extraordinary coastlines in the world, and we strongly believe it has the potential to become a premier international destination for open water swimming. With your encouragement and support, we can inspire global swimmers to discover and experience the beauty, challenge, and adventure of Indian waters.”
