Penny Palfrey shows a few of her Portuguese Man-o-War wounds after reaching land on Kauai, but her smile remains despite her disappointment in not completing her 72-mile Kaieiewaho Channel attempt between the islands of Oahu and Kauai in Hawaii.

Photos below by Bill Goding, one of her paddlers, show Penny greasing up before the start and at her starting location on the black lava beachhead at Kaena Point on Oahu.

Palfrey is slowly recovering and resting well now on Kauai.
