Mother Nature Never Makes It Easy For Nick Jessen

Spread the love

Whether it was the Cook Strait or the Catalina Channel or, today across the Molokai Channel, Mother Nature likes to challenge Nicholas Jessen (@jessen.nick) of New Zealand.

He completed a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel in 9 hours 24 minutes, a crossing of Lake Taupō in New Zealand in 13 hours 7 minutes, a 23 km crossing of the Cook Strait in 8 hours 40 minutes, and was swimming smoothly from Molokai to Oahu across the Molokai Channel in Hawaii after starting on South Papohako Beach on Molokai and swimming towards Oahu.

His escort captain Michael Twigg-Smith recalled, “He hit a wicked current from the south towards the end as he was heading to Alan Davis Beach, but he made it out of the ocean at 6:55 pm for a Ka’iwi success in 16 hours 25 minutes.”

Three down, four to go.
