On August 30th, Luca Pozzi of Italy started in pitch blackness on the island of Honshu in northern Japan and completed a nightime crossing of the 19.5 km Tsugaru Channel along the Kodomari Route.

He finished at 7:44 am for a quick 8 hour 20 minute 58 second crossing.

His marine chart provided by his escort pilot and navigator on the left shows his route from the south on the island of Honshu, across the Tsugaru Channel as he rode the Tsugaru Current, towards the northern island of Hokkaido.

His route was a classic example of a successful S-curve crossing.
