Only 1,000 entrants are available at the British Gas Great London Swim that may fill up by early June. The British Gas Great London Swim takes place in the Royal Victoria Dock on July 3rd and includes celebrities and Olympic medalists.

The list of great swimmers is growing with Olympians Keri-Anne Payne, Cassie Patten, triple Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Stephanie Rice from Australia, David Davies and Thomas Lurz from Germany.

In only its second year, Great London Swim expects 5,000 swimmers to dive in the one-mile swim. Colin Hill, Head of Great Swim said, “It is fantastic to see so many people wanting to take part in the Great London Swim. A few years ago the idea of taking part in a marathon or triathlon was a totally new concept, but look how popular they have become. The record number of entries for the British Gas Great Swim Series shows that swimming is the next big thing.”

British Gas Great Swim dates include the British Gas Great East Swim on June 19th, the British Gas Great London Swim on July 3rd, the British Gas Great Scottish Swim on August 21st and British Gas Great North Swim on September 4th-5th.
