Dr. Keith Bell, Race Director of The Money Box Cap 2k Open Water Race in Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas predicts some exciting racing over this weekend.
The next generation of open water swimming heroes and heroines will show their endurance, navigational skills and closing speed as part of the American Swimming Association-sanctioned activities.
Dr. Bell forecasts that 2-time champion Will Rivers will be hard-pressed by Connor Nolan and Ted Singley in the High School Open Water Texas State Championship which is swum as part of The Money Box Cap 2k. On the women’s side, University of Texas’ Natalie Sacco will face stiff competition from Claire Singley who is aiming to win her 4th straight High School State Championship.
Dr. Bell wrote, “Southlake Carroll’s Open Water team, should easily win its fourth straight Boys and Girls Texas High School Championships in 2007.”
While the high schoolers battle it out in Lady Bird Lake, participants in the Money Box Cap 2k will swim 2K to promote clean water, to promote health and fitness and to raise money for Swimability which provides funding for swimming lessons for Austin’s disadvantaged children with 1972 Olympic Triple Gold Medalist, Sandy Neilson-Bell, as the event coordinator.
Spectators will be able to view the entire race from the Cap 2k Cruise on the Capital Cruises double-decker boat which follows the race.
