Diana Nyad, The One And Only

Diana Nyad who will be 61 at the time of her 103-mile attempt from Cuba to Florida is training hard and quiet confident in herself and her support team. She explained her plans and her logistical planning in an extensive article in the Washington Post by Sally Jenkins.

She will certainly be setting the bar for not only masters swimmers, but also for everyone else who may come after her. But she may set the bar too high.

I would have the hubris to say I don’t think there’s another swimmer on the planet who could do this swim,” she told the Washington Post. “I just don’t think someone else could stand on the Cuban shore and get over to Florida. It’s outrageously extreme.”
