The Sea of Cortez Swim Relay (Cruce al Golfo de california) set off this morning at 4:47 am local time after their well-attended two-hour press conference last night in front of nine TV cameras and an anxious national press.
“The Mexican media’s interest is unbelievable. Our Mexican teammates are fabulous in action.”
“Por Ellas, the charity of the Mexican team, has much national interest here. On land and onshore, it is quite an adventure now,” said Vito Bialla. “Orcas will be in our course, according to reports.”
With nearly 5 hours under their belt, the first part of their 2-3 day non-stop relay swim seems to be going to plan.
