Craig Lenning Takes Tampa Bay Under Ideal Conditions

Swimmers enjoyed near-perfect conditions at the 13th Annual Whiskey Joe’s Tampa Bay Marathon Swim in Florida yesterday.

Craig Lenning of Denver, Colorado came down to sea level from his normal altitude training and finished first in 10 hours and 17 minutes.

The (University of North Carolina) Tar Heel Alumni relay team of Patrick Woodruff, Greg Sanchez, Tucker Shade, Kelly Woodruff and Erin Cutrell (shown above) of North Carolina Tarheel swimmers finished well ahead of the entire field over the 24-mile course with a fast time of 8 hours and 6 minutes.

Solo Swimmers:
1. Craig Lenning: 10 hours 17 minutes
2. David Barra: 10 hours 49 minutes
3. Darren Miller: 11 hours 10 minutes
4. Terry Laughlin: 11 hours 54 minutes

Relays
1. Tar Heel Alumni: 8 hours 6 minutes
2. The Angry Fish: 9 hours 1 minute by Kathryn Kirmayer, Bill Couch, Rob Benson, Chris Kirwan, Jordan Lewis and John Young
3. Masters of Our Own Domain: 9 hours 8 minutes by Tim Kennedy and Brian Rimel
4. Barracudas: 10 hours 22 minutes by Pat Marzulli, Robert Aldrich, Cyle Sage, Terri Pyle, Bob Beach and Flavia Zappa
5. Team Endurance Trust: 10 hours 44 minutes by Kim Plewa and Michelle Nelson
6. 3 Y’S Guys Swim for Richard: 11 hours 18 minutes by Paul Kiell, Doug Munch and Martino Caretto
