Becca Mann, 2 Channels Down + 1 To Go
Courtesy of Steve Haumschild, Maui – Molokai – Lanai, Hawaii.
Becca Mann started on her attempt of the renowned 57.58 km Maui Nui Triangle Swim in Hawaii yesterday afternoon.
Steve Haumschild reported, “She started on Maui. Her first channel crossing took her 4 hours 1 minute across the 15.75 km Pailolo Channel from Maui to Molokai.
From Lanai to Molokai, it was tougher.
Leg 1 started on Maui and finished on Molokai across the 15.75 km Pailolo Channel. Leg 2 started on Molokai where she fought some mean head current. Crossing the 26.5 km Kalohi Channel took her 10 hours 10 minutes. She is now on Leg 3 from Club Lanai on Lanai towards the finish at Black Rock on Maui, 15.33 km across the Auau Channel. She is facing some slight headwinds, but we made the right call for facing the Auau [Maui] Channel last.
Becca is jacked with energy and swimming on a mission. She is a phenomenal athlete of a different caliber.“
Mann is being escorted by Captain Michael Twigg-Smith with the assistance of Haumschild, hoping to complete the Auau Channel crossing in 4-5 hours and finish the Maui Nui Triangle Swim within 20 hours.

Update as of 2:45 pm New York time: Mann has approached within 3.3 km of the shoreline of Maui.
