Every year since 1910 on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on August 15th, the 3.5 km Šilo-Crikvenica Swimming Marathon has been held.
The oldest open water swim in the Adriatic Sea starts in Šilo and finishes in Crikvenica on the Crikvenica Riviera, one of the most scenic parts of the Adriatic coast.
