
Volcanes de Caburgua is a group formed by six pyroclastic cones located at the southern tip of the Caburgua Lake, which is a lava-dammed lake created by volcanic activity.
Once viewed by 51-year-old Tracy Knight, the American marathon swimmer from Indianapolis, Indiana knew she had to swim it.
On a family vacation on December 21st 2023, she completed the first known marathon swim along an 8-mile route in Lago Caburgua in Pucón, Chile in 4 hours 17 minutes in the clear 64°F water, escorted by her husband, in view of the towering Volcanes de Caburgua, a group formed by six pyroclastic cones located at the southern tip of the lake.
