47-year-old Hector Zuvieta was the guide swimmer for 52-year-old blind swimmer Tony Duenas in the 3-mile Naples Island Swim today in Long Beach, California.

Zuvieta and Duenas have competed together in a variety of events, both in the water and on dryland, for the past 3 years. “It takes a village to help Tony do what he does,” explains Zuvieta. “He relies on guides and so many volunteers who help him at events like this.”

Duenas adds, “I always say that things happen for a reason. I have the opportunity to do so much and am so thankful when things go right – like today.”
