Soon after her 16 hour 10 minute crossing of the Molokai Channel in Hawaii, Edie Hu (50, USA, MSF bio here, @edieswimshongkong) is back at it again.
This time, she is with Simon Holliday and Brett Kruse for a three-person 65 km tandem swim around Lantau Island, the largest of Hong Kong‘s islands that lies at the mouth of the Pearl River.
They all aim to be the first people to swim 65 km entirely around Lantau Island. The trio will start – and finish – at Disneyland Pier at 2 pm today. Hu estimates, “We will likely take over 20 hours to complete it.”
Each of them has swum 45 km around Hong Kong Island over the years.
Their swim can be followed here.
