
Dee Newell (40, Ireland, IISA bio here, @dee_from_the_sea) has accomplished myriad swims from Ireland to Antarctica.
In addition to serving as an International Ice Swimming Association official and completed an English Channel crossing in 14 hours 54 minutes, she also crossed the Hellespont, participated in the six-person 94 km Irish Sea Swim from Wales to Ireland in 38 hours 52 minutes, and completed an Ice Kilometer in 22 minutes 23 seconds in Deception Island in Antarctica in 1.60°C water as part of the Antarctica 2020 event.
Newell joined a number of athletes, physicians, writers and personalities who have spoken about open water swimming at TED Talks around the world when she spoke about her open water experiences at the TEDxGalway in November 2023.
