Ashley Twichell had a successful series of swims at the FINA World Championships.

The personable distance freestyler kicked off with a 2020 Tokyo Olympic qualifying swim in 10 km race, and then followed up with a bronze medal in the 5 km Mixed Relay.

When she shifted to the pool, she finished 4th with a career best time of 15:43.19 in the 1500m freestyle.

Other open water swimmers competing in the pool included Kiah Melverton of Australia who finished 7th in 16:01.38 in the 1500m freestyle while in the 800m freestyle Giulia Gabbrielleschi of Italy placed 14th in 8:35.03 and Viviane Jungblut of Brazil finished 19th in 8:42.52.
