Haiku to the Yakker

Spread the love

Sgt. Jim Cowhig, a Northeast Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association swimmer Newburyport, Massachusetts wrote a haiku about kayakers.

A haiku is a form of Japanese poetry that in English consists of 5, 7, and 5 syllables in three lines:

smooth molded plastic
an oasis of safety
always at my side

Jim’s haiki is simple, classic and creative.

Jim – and others – will have an opportunity to experience his haiku in person at the Kingdom Swim on July 24th in Lake Memphremagog in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
