The men’s race in the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships 10K race was re-shaped when Olympic 1500-meter gold medalist Ous Mellouli decided to pull out.

With Ous out, eyes tend to focus back on Fran Crippen, the wily seasoned fast closer of the group…but Chip Peterson, Andrew Gemmell, Alex Meyer and the Aussie men will surround him like bodyguards around a President.
