Sometimes, when two superstars of the sport inadvertently meet each other, it is a pleasure to see how the camaraderie and commonalities shared by open water swimmers can be so evident.

At the Global Open Water Swimming Conference, long-time English Channel and Catalina Channel record holder Dr. Penny Dean talked shop with 7-time world professional marathon swimming champion Shelley Taylor-Smith. The careers of the two women ranged from the 1970s to the 1990s.
