Cowabunga. A massive surf swell is expected to hit Southern California over the next several days, peaking on Saturday. Beaches along the Los Angeles County coastline may see surf ranging from 5-9 feet. Some Orange County beaches, which are more south, may see surf upwards of 17 feet.

As every experienced open water swimmer knows, it is wise to look behind you as they swim into shore, but it is especially true over the next few days in California.

We half expect Donal Buckley to show up…
