Candace Lyle Hogan, a friend of Diana Nyad for over 30 years and a female pioneering sports reporter, tells of a story with Diana Nyad and Jacqueline Kennedy.

“After Diana swam around Manhattan Island, she and I were invited to a charity party with Jacqueline (Onassis at the time). When Diana was introduced, Jackie said, ‘Oh Diana, she’s my hero!’ It is interesting to know that our society’s heroes have heroes.”
