Marathon swimmer Joe Scheper of Hawaii appeared on the television program, the World’s Deadliest Swarms, where he explained and reenacted an attack by box jellyfish off the shores of Lanai in Hawaii.

As explained by Dr. Gail Grabowsky, an avid open water swimmer and marine biologist, “The scary thing is that [the box jellyfish] is that they do not make any noise, you can’t see them, and you can barely feel them when you first touch them.” View here.

WARNING: This is a graphic presentation of an actual attack by venomous box jellyfish, first aired in 1997 by Fox. Viewer discretion is advised.
